High School Students Participated in the Education and Career Development Camp at MAKÜ

Burdur Mehmet Akif University Tourism Facilities Coordination started its operations in January 2024 to strengthen the marketing and other tourism initiatives of Lavanta Tepesi Hotel. They launched the "Education and Career Development Camp" targeting high school students, offering career planning tests, seminars and recreational activities to prepare them for university. The innovative program, which stands out with its comprehensive approach, was praised for combining academic studies with entertainment, and plans were made to offer offers suitable for various high school preferences.

The Tourism Facilities Coordination Office established within Burdur Mehmet Akif University (MAKÜ) started its work in January 2024 to strengthen the marketing activities of Lavanta Tepesi Hotel and other tourism investments. A special accommodation package was developed for high school students within the coordination office, which focuses on new product development studies for Lavanta Tepesi Hotel. The first guests of the "Education and Career Development Camp" launched on the market were high school students from Isparta.

Lavanta Tepesi Hotel, which has become a brand in the region with its quality service approach for events such as sports tourism, congresses, conferences and special day organizations, continues to expand its product range.

Education and Career Development Camp

The Education and Career Development Camp, which was held for the first time at Lavanta Tepesi Hotel with the participation of high school students from Isparta, includes a special program for high school students. The students who participate in the camp are first given the “Career Planning Test” developed by MAKÜ Career Development Application and Research Center. The test results of the students are evaluated one-on-one with the students at the hotel by the expert academic staff of the university. In this way, individual routes can be created for students preparing for university on “personality-profession compatibility” and “career planning”. During the Education and Career Development Camp, which varies from three days to one week, special seminars such as “coping with anxiety strategies”, “time management” and “being a university student” are also given for students preparing for the university exam. The “applied breathing exercise training” conducted with the participation of experts from the Faculty of Sports Sciences contributes to students’ stress management and healthy living skills.

Recreational activities offered to students during the camp program allow the Education and Career Development Camp to be conducted in a pleasant environment. Students who receive various trainings and take mock exam sessions throughout the camp can get away from stress by participating in activities such as football, basketball, table tennis, swimming and mini concerts with their friends.

Innovative Education Camp Was Greatly Appreciated by High School Students

MAKÜ Tourism Facilities Coordinator Assoc. Prof. Dr. Serhat Adem Sop said, “We have successfully presented the first of our meticulously prepared program to high school students from Isparta. This product, which we developed with effective marketing work and strong coordination between MAKÜ units, actually has a unique quality. Because we provide the students we host with more experiences than any hotel can offer, such as rest and entertainment. Activities such as career planning test application, breathing exercises, anxiety management training and university student interviews conducted by our expert academicians during the camp form the basis of our product. We enrich these with sports activities and other recreational activities. Therefore, the students who participated in our Education and Career Development Camp experienced much more than a short vacation. Seeing that they left the hotel satisfied after the camp and receiving positive feedback made us happy. In line with this motivation, we have accelerated the promotion activities of our new product, which we call Education and Career Development Camp.”

The trainings offered for the camp program and the content of the program can be diversified in line with the requests and demands of high schools.
